Sonia Dutta, M.D.
Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
Dr. Dutta joined the Women’s Pelvic Surgery Specialists in the fall of 2018. Her practice focuses on minimally invasive approaches to repair pelvic floor disorders – she believes in forming constructive partnerships with her patients to ensure that a shared decision is made after understanding and appreciating all the options for management, be it watchful waiting, attempting conservative measures or moving forward with surgery.
It was during her residency that Dr. Dutta became interested in the women’s pelvic floor and the changes experienced by gynecologic cancer survivors. Given this new passion and desire, she decided to pursue fellowship training in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS). Following her four years in Baltimore, she moved to Los Angeles, California to complete her FPMRS fellowship at University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Dutta grew up on the East Coast in New Jersey. Most of her education and training was also on the east coast – she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University with honors in biochemistry. She then completed her medical degree at New York University School of Medicine, where she again graduated with honors due to her research in gynecologic oncology during her medical school years. Following medical school, Dr. Dutta went onto Johns Hopkins Hospital to complete her obstetrics and gynecology residency.
