Dr. Goldberg’s patient care philosophy centers on working with each patient to develop the least invasive plan of care that provides symptom relief and an improved quality of life.
Dr. Goldberg serves as Director of the Division of Urogynecology and Female Pelvic Surgery at NorthShore University HealthSystem/University of Chicago. Together with Dr. Dutta, he also directs the fellowship training program.
His clinical interests encompass minimally invasive surgery for prolapse and incontinence, robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery, and female bowel dysfunction. With a focus in surgical innovation, Dr. Goldberg holds numerous medical device patents and has introduced surgical procedures for pelvic organ prolapse that have been adopted globally and studied with worldwide and NIH funded trials.
He has lectured, instructed surgeons and performed surgery on patients throughout the US, and internationally throughout Brazil, Australia, Italy, France, UK, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Taiwan and Japan.
Dr. Goldberg is widely published in the field of urogynecology, with over 80 peer-review scientific articles and book chapters, and has authored two books including “Urogynecology for the Primary Care Provider” (Springer, 2006), and “Ever Since I Had My Baby” (Random House, 2003), the first book on post-childbirth pelvic floor disorders written for postpartum mothers and the layperson, now also available as an e-book.
He has been interviewed and featured in a wide array of media including CBS, FOX, ABC, NBC, Chicago Tribune, Sun Times, Glamour, Parents, NY Daily News, Fit Pregnancy Magazine, Parenting, InStyle, National Public Radio, mom.com, Today’s Chicago Woman, Baby Talk, Good Housekeeping, and Redbook.
Dr. Goldberg has served on the Board of Directors for the American Urogynecology Society (AUGS), His research conducted along with the NorthShore team has received awards from major societies including AUGS, where he is Master Class co-director, IUGA, ICS and SGS, and Dr. Goldberg was recently presented with NorthShore’s Distinguished Physician Award.
After earning his undergraduate degree at Cornell University, Dr. Goldberg completed his medical degree at Northwestern University, residency at Harvard University’s Beth Israel Hospital, Master of Public Health degree at Johns Hopkins University, and fellowship in Urogynecology at Northwestern University.
Dr. Goldberg enjoys spending time with his family, travel, skiing, cooking, hockey, music, and the great outdoors.
